There are many barriers to diversity in organisations, for example organisational bias, individual’s biases as well as social inequality resulting in a lack of opportunity. Combined, the barriers contribute to underrepresentation of minority communities in the workplace. To counteract this underrepresentation, organisations who wish to grow with diversity must take deliberate action around their recruitment and retention practices.
